Broadly, our research investigates how identity influences our behaviors and decisions. For example, how does identity play a role in our decisions to engage in non-normative behavior, react to instances of deviance and dissent, as well as shape our perceptions of right and wrong? Under what circumstances do our identities prevent our social groups from capitalizing on criticism, divergence, and diversity and, importantly, when might our identities make us more receptive to the benefits of difference and diversity? How do institutions and our trust in them affect our willingness to cooperate and interact with outgroup members?
